Today, we visited our Cousin Ed. He started working at a new restaurant called Highway Inn, Kaka’ako about a month ago so we definitely had to try it!

We walked in and it was quite busy! We were seated at a table near the front desk and I ordered the local favorite, Loco Moco. There’s a small twist with this dish that I didn’t know when I ordered it. It’s made with smoked meat with an aioli sauce instead of hamburger steak. It was amazing!

After lunch, we met up with Ed Morita and he told us about the delicious baked goods that he made that morning. All of his desserts are gluten free since he bakes with kiawe flour. We had to try each one of his desserts! Kiawe flour is a bit nutty, which I love. And knowing it’s healthy… I wasn’t that guilty eating three desserts, although my daughter devoured most of the whoopie pie (pictured above) by herself…
