I attended the Software Development for iPhone and iPod Touch Seminar today, presented by Steve Hayman.

He briefly talked about development for the iPad (which is very similar to iPhone / iPod Touch development), as well as how to create web apps and native apps during the presentation. Above is a UCR native iPhone app that he created with us in under 15 minutes. Wow.

Another Blog World Expo has come and gone. This is actually my first Blog World Expo event, and I greatly enjoyed it. There were just so many amazing sessions taking place that it was very hard to choose which to go to. In addition to the panels, I met a lot of amazing people who are changing our world through social media and online tools.

I was in Anaheim for a committee meeting today. I’m on the local arrangements committee that’s helping to plan all the fun stuff for the library conference that’s happening in two weeks. The committee members all met up to do a walk-thru of the conference area, hotel, and places within walking distance in Anaheim. I had no idea the day was going to consist of a lot of hiking though! haha I took a ton of photos that I can use for the website. :)

My favorite part of the day was when we finally reached Downtown Disney to scope out the restaurants and buy raffle prizes at the World of Disney Store. Fun! I found the perfect bag for my Dell Mini 9 too!

After our hike around the city, we had a late lunch at PF Changs at the Garden Walk. It’s a great area since it’s so close to the hotel and Disneyland.

So if you need any advice about Anaheim, just ask me. I know most of the in’s and out’s now. :)

One of our events for National Library Week is our annual Edible Book Contest, hosted by our wonderful Preservation Department. I had the pleasure of taking photos of all the entries today and they were all so exquisite and creative!

“Silence of the Lambs” is one of my favorites because it’s such a cute and clever piece of work! There are so many others, but I will have to update this post with more photos later today.

Remember to go down to your local library and let the workers know how much you appreciate their hard work. Reading is fun, but you don’t have to take my word for it. ;)

Well, Happy National Library Week, and Happy Library Worker’s Day! We celebrated at work today by having a Ribbon Cutting and Dedication Ceremony for our new Leisure Reading Collection donated by Mr. and Mrs. Allen. Unfortunately, the couple’s flight was delayed so they decided to teleconference into the celebration.

There’s lots of great books in the collection including Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight series. Everyone was really happy about the new book collection. :)

I took photos during the event, but too a short break to test drive those ribbon-cutting scissors. lol

Tomorrow is our “Edible Book Contest,” hosted by the Preservation Department. I can’t wait! It’s an awesome annual event where our staff make book-related treats. It’s just another way to celebrate National Library Week. ;)

Today was just the typical day at work. I just juggling a few web projects, but decided to take a short break. Some people asked me about my setup… so here it is pictured above. I definitely use all three Dell monitors to its full capacity. First monitor is mainly for viewing websites in different browsers, I code in the second one, and the third is for my email and calendar. What is your setup like?

Ever since I got back from vacation, I’ve been working many long hours, playing catch up! And we’ve been planning all year for the Southern California Innovative Users Group (SCIUG) conference, and the day finally came. I was responsible for running one of the registration desks (A-M) this year and to take photos. The registration script I wrote for the conference sorts out all people who registered by who paid, and who didn’t, and splits them into A-M and N-z. Yup, very organized. heh

Looks like I’ll be doing the National IUG conference Local Arrangements website as well. Should be fun! It’ll be in Anaheim next May and I’m sure there will be an overload of Disneyland tips!
