WordCamp SF was the first WordCamp event that I attended physically. I attended PodCamp+WordCamp Hawaii virtually last year. I have to say that I had the best time ever. I knew I would the moment I found out the date and registered. There were more than 700+ attendees… doubling the size from last year! There were so many great people attending too. I didn’t get the chance to meet and talk to everyone that I wanted to, but there’s always next year, and WordCamp LA is coming up as well!

WordPress means A LOT to me since I was using it from the very beginning. It’s the essence of my internet existence. When @photomatt gave the State of the Word, it brought back so many nostalgic memories. I remember helping Michel V (the original coder of b2) beta test his software about 9 years ago. I use to constantly hack b2 every way I could. And I also remember when WordPress was born, as well as all the other blog software there were competing with WP at the time. It was a nice walk down my internet memory lane, and I shall not forget it.

@Veronica, @Giannii, @mcnitt, @jyamasaki, @jamescway and I were pretty busy getting ready for #winebarsf tweetup today. We had some great swag arriving all over the place! Many thanks to MightyLeaf, Digg, Revision 3, Tekzilla, Disqus, Zappos, FunnyorDie, AllTop, Twit, Google, Box.net, and Seesmic for all the awesome goodies!

@daynah & @mcnittBefore the event, I had a pre-tweetup dinner with @emilychang, @maxkiesler, @mcnitt, and @dragonal at Santorini. Mmm, the food was delicious! I highly recommend going there if you get the chance. We left the restaurant to head over to the #winebarsf tweetup, but hit Critical Mass. I didn’t know what that was until I heard all the cars honking at the cyclists. Oops. We were stuck in traffic for a bit, but finally made it to the #winebarsf tweetup!

#winebarsf TweetupIt was awesome seeing all our fellow geeks in one place. :) I got to meet a lot of people — too many to name — that night. It turned out to be a nice pre-Wordcamp event. Thank you all for coming!

I left #winebarsf around 10:30pm and went to have desserts at Ghiradelli with my college friends. Yum. Yum, yum. Now I need to figure out how to get some sleep before the big day at Wordcamp SF!

Google I/O Day 2

logo

Day 2 at the Google I/O Conference started earlier. When I got to the keynote, there were Lego all over the chairs. Could this be our next surprise? I do love Lego, but I can’t possibly love it more than this G2 phone. ;)

Then the announcement of Google Wave came! I’m sure Vic loves giving out all the great news. ;)

After the demo of Google Wave, I couldn’t wait to start using it! It’s like forums + email + IM + Google Docs + rsvp forms + all communication tools rolled into one! Very amazing! I think it’ll be a product that will revolutionize the internet.. Attendees of the conference will be getting accounts to test out the new product. I can’t wait!

After the Keynote, I was jumping in and out of sessions. There’s just so many that it’s hard to decide which to go to.

By 5pm, I felt really sad that Google I/O was over. But there’s always next year to look forward to!

Long Drive North

Yahoo!

I made it safely to Northern California. I’ve forgotten how vast this state was. It was a long drive, but DragonAl and I made a few stops along the way. We’re both tired and achy, but very happy to be here!

We had a quick dinner at In-n-Out. But this In-n-Out was special.. you can see the Yahoo! building outside of it’s windows. :)

And I have this geeky beauty to look forward to in the morning! Google I/O, here I come!

Memorial Day Weekend

I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend. It makes me a bit sad to know that the weekend is over though. This weekend has been quite relaxing. I really enjoyed not doing much and just resting up before my trip to San Francisco.

I finally got the chance to see Star Trek this weekend with the family, and I loved it! I also stopped by the Brea Mall for an hour or so to get a few things before going to SF, and the Apple Store display caught my eye! I wanted a photo with Dizzy Bee! It’s one of my favorite games. Get it if you don’t have it yet. Dizzy Bee 2 is awesome.

I had my nose in a book all weekend, which isn’t typical. I started reading Twilight two days ago, and I can’t seem to put it down. I feel like a young teenager in love reading this book! I think I need to go pick up New Moon soon… sigh!

My road trip to San Francisco starts tomorrow. I should be up in the Bay Area around 10pm or so? Then I have an early day at Google I/O. I know it’s a bit dorky, but I’m so super excited about this Developer conference. And then there’s Wordcamp SF on Saturday. It’s going to be a super geeky week for me and I can’t wait.

More details about SF events later! I need to finish packing. ;)

Oh yes, before I forget, Happy Towel Day!
